NITRO BISCUIT STOUT DROP!!!

NITRO BISCUIT STOUT DROP!!!

Nitro Biscuit Stout Release.

With winter settling into Denmark, we have decided to raid the biscuit tin and release four beers inspired by four of our favourite bikkies. While it was hard to narrow our choice down to just four flavours, we ultimately decided on Wagon Wheel, Chocolate Chip, Mint Slice, and Biscoff.

But before we get to the biscuits, let’s talk about the beer. All four flavours were brewed from the same base recipe. This is a pastry stout recipe, meaning the body is rich and sweet, with a smooth finish. We loaded up the mash tun with lots of chocolate malt and roasted barley, and added lactose sugar to the brew kettle to boost the body and carry those sweet flavours into the final beer.

Once the base beer was brewed and fermented, we split it into four parts. The Wagon Wheel portion received a large dose of raspberry puree and real chocolate. For Chocolate Chip we added even more chocolate, along with a dash of vanilla to emphasise the sweetness of this flavour. Mint Slice also received some real chocolate, but of course we also had to add some mint in the form of peppermint oil. Finally, the Biscoff was flavoured with our own blend of spices that bring that warm and zesty flavour of original biscuit into the beer.

The final and most exciting step of producing these beers is adding the nitrogen. Adding nitrogen to beer creates tiny bubbles that when poured into a glass create a velvety smooth texture and beautiful dense head. We infuse nitrogen into the cans by adding a miniscule drop of liquid nitrogen into beer as we fill the can, then immediately apply the lid and seal the can. The liquid nitrogen will turn into nitrogen gas and infuse into the beer over the next 24 hours. In order to achieve that beautiful nitro beer pour, we print serving instructions on the side of the can. Unlike normal beer, it helps to be a bit rough when pouring these beers—the extra agitation helps unlock the nitrogen and create that creamy texture you expect from a nitro beer.

I’m sure everyone who tries this quartet of Biscuit Tin Nitro Stouts will find a favourite flavour. Amongst the staff here there are plenty of opinions on which is the best biscuit, and I’m sure this mixed pack of biscuit-inspired beers will inspire even more debate!
